Energy Reference Group

The Energy Managers Reference Group, also known as the Urban Energy Network, is a partnership platform convened by the South African Cities Network (SACN), Sustainable Energy Africa (SEA) and SALGA. Members include the managers responsible for electricity and energy policy and planning from the SACN member cities, selected secondary and local municipalities. Other relevant national and provincial government departments, Eskom, civil society organisations/researchers and private sector representatives are invited to meetings, depending on the topic.

AIMS
  • Encourage sharing of good practice (models) in the energy sector.
  • Improve energy planning in municipalities through the development of long-term management plans and tools.
  • Provide a platform for a consolidated voice to influence policy and funding models at national government.
