Infrastructure and Logistics

Infrastructure is critical to South Africa’s social and economic development. The efficiency and effectiveness of the networks and services that facilitate the movement of people and goods are core to development. In addition, infrastructure itself represents an important economic sector which directly contributes to growth and job creation. As such, the SACN participates in initiatives and programmes aimed at strengthening the areas of infrastructure and logistics.

The Infrastructure Dialogues provide a high-level and regular platform for a sharing of views and perspectives between senior government, private sector and civil society stakeholders in the infrastructure sector. Discussions are structured and aimed at developing a common understanding and position within the sector. The desired outcome of the collective outputs of the dialogues is an improved climate for policy and decision-making, and strengthened cooperation within the infrastructure sector. The Infrastructure Dialogues are hosted by the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), the Business Trust Support Programme for Accelerated Infrastructure Development (SPAID) and the South African Cities Network (SACN).
