As 2014 draws to a close, what a year it has been! The secretariat has hosted key conferences, knowledge exchange sessions and produced multiples knowledge products. As the 2016 local government elections approach, 2015 is certain to be another busy year for the SACN and we look forward to working more diligently with our member cities, partners and stakeholders.

On 13th November 2014, SACN in partnership with DBSA held an Infrastructure Dialogue on Localisation: Driving Industrialisation through the National Infrastructure Plan. The conversation highlighted that, over the last two decades, South Africa has experienced a sustained decline in the size of its manufacturing sector relative to gross domestic product (GDP).
